Two tenants on a bus.
“Hi there, how are you?”
“Fed up with the Council ringing me?
“What for?”
“The Housing vote. They’ve rang me up twice, telling me I ought to vote Yes, trying to get me to tell them which way I’m gonna vote. I’m fed up with them trying to bully me. I told them it’s none of their business how I’m gonna vote. It’s supposed to be a secret ballot. They don’t ring me up for a General Election or a Council election.”
“Yes they seem to be doing this all over the place, instead of providing “neutral information”.”
“Yes. I’ll bloody well be voting No.”
As reported to STCG
I couldn’t agree more. Within the space of a fortnight, I had four answerphone messages left regarding the Council being ‘unable to contact me to ‘speak to me about my choices ‘ – I was at work by the way.
I honestly can say, in all the years I have been a tenant, I have never received so much attention, usually at best I get apathy at the other end of the line when I do contact them about repairs/concerns etc.
Now they suddenly want to ‘listen to our opinions’ novelty indeed.
Anyway a GREAT BIG NO from me as well.
Not that I think the current bunch are fantastic Landords, but if nothing else, this whole selling charade shows that clearly some people are set to gain from the proposed transfer, and I think we deserve better than being used as pawns in their game.
